Last Halloween we briefly covered Sony Pictures Entertainments forthcoming science fiction chiller thriller Life, starring Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Hiroyuki Sanada. Set aboard the International Space Station the resident crew of astronauts intercept a research pod launched from Mars, that is soon revealed to contain the first sample of life ever discovered outside of Earth's atmosphere. Unfortunately for the crew of the ISS, the sample is not only still alive, capable of exponentially increasing its body mass and adapting to any environment, but the life form is exceedingly hostile, having allegedly wiped out life on Mars millions of years ago...
Although it looks to be treading all-too-familiar ground, exploring themes present in movies such as Europa Report, The Thing, Leviathan and Apollo 18, Life's stylistic visuals, reminiscent of movies such as Gravity and Sunshine could see the movie be a cult hit, at least until the release of Alien: Covenant in May. Plus the trailer features Norman Greenbaum's classic Spirit in the Sky, last featured in the awesome Guardians of the Galaxy. Life will be unleashed in cinemas March 24th.
