This November Sicario and Prisoners director Denis Villeneuve, who is currently working on the as-of-yet untitled sequel to 1982's Blade Runner, is set to amaze movie audiences with his new movie Arrival. Based on Ted Chiang's award-winning novella "Story of Your Life" and written for the big screen by Eric Heisserer, screenwriter of this year's horror hit Lights Out, Arrival reunites Amy Adams with American Hustle co-star Jeremy Renner and features Hollywood legend Forest Whitaker, who can also be seen in this December's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Stirring echoes of James Cameron's 1989 classic The Abyss, 1996's cult classic Independence Day and imagery from 2012's Prometheus Villeneuve's latest movie approaches the scenario of "first contact" with an alien race from a serious perspective. With the cast and crew involved in this movie, Arrival shows great promise at becoming a modern classic and a possible sleeper hit for studio Paramount Pictures.
